Pros & Cons Explained
Speed & Efficiency
The Breville BES870XL Express provides users with a way to get professional quality espresso from the comfort of their own kitchen. Its compact design, plethora of features, ease of use, and (most importantly) speed, make it a great machine for both beginners and experienced baristas. The Breville comes with an integrated burr grinder, which allows users to go from full beans to delicious espresso in less than five minutes. This excellent feature allows users to reap the rewards of speed that an automatic espresso machine provides, without the trade off of fresh tasting brew. While boiler-style espresso machines can take a great deal of time to heat, the thermal block in the Breville allows it to heat in about 20 seconds.
A major drawback of many mid-tier to high-end espresso machines is that they are simply far too complicated for a beginner who is just starting out. Users will have to fiddle with things like temperature distribution of steam, grind time, water pressure, and a host of other features that may leave a beginner feeling overwhelmed and discouraged. The Breville Express takes all the guesswork out of brewing, and will allow a beginner to get up and running extremely quickly with minimal headaches.
Compact Design and Storage
Weighing just 24lbs and spanning about 18 inches, the Breville Barista is incredibly compact and comes with a host of storage features for those with space limitations. Not only does it have a built in grinder, but it also contains a magnetic tamper that is stored in the machine when it is not in use. The tamper sits perfectly level with the portafilter, so you know just how much you need for each brew. The Breville also comes with a frothing pitcher, four baskets (two pressurized and two not), cleaning tablets, and a frothing arm cleaner. All of these fit nicely into a tray that can be stored underneath the machine, which is great for those who have a tendency to lose small parts.
Control and Consistency
The compact size of the Breville BES870XL does not mean there is less control. In fact, features such as the built-in grinder, dose control, water temperature control, pressure gauge, and grind size adjustment allow users to fine tune their experience so that they can expect a high level of consistency in the way their espresso is brewed every time. Most importantly, the ability to adjust brew water temperature will ensure that once you find a flavor level you like, you know exactly how to get back to it in your next cup.

The Breville BES870XL is undoubtedly a fantastic espresso machine for both beginners and those who want an easy, quick, and reliable experience. While there are a few flaws that may deter some, there is no doubt that it is an incredibly solid choice for an espresso lover.Read Reviews & Purchase from Amazon
